From Ruptly TV:

ublished on Mar 12, 2017Clashes erupted in Ramallah when Palestinian police suppressed a demonstration using tear gas, sound and gas bombs, on Sunday afternoon. The protest was held in solidarity with killed Palestinian activist Basil al-Araj and against his, and five others, trial for carrying unlicensed weapons. Araj was awaiting trial when he was killed. Footage shows the police detaining several protesters and others being injured during the violence. Mahmoud al-Araj, Basil’s father, was among the detained. Police also tried to prevent journalists from covering the violence, blocking cameras. 31-year-old activist Araj, who carried out a hunger strike after claiming that he had been detained without charges by Palestinian authorities in April 2016, was killed when Israeli forces entered a house in Ramallah. Two others were injured in the incident. Israeli authorities stated they went to the house to arrest Araj, who was allegedly planning an attack against “civilians and security forces”, according to an Israeli police spokesperson. The claim has been strongly disputed by Palestinian politicians, who state the Araj was assassinated.
