President Trump is on record stating that Germany has been derelict in its duty to pay for NATO. The media attacked Trump for the claim. Trump’s own Secretary of Defence broke with him on the statement. You think that mattered to Trump?

The Times reports:

Donald Trump handed the German chancellor Angela Merkel a bill — thought to be for more than £300bn — for money her country “owed” Nato for defending it when they met last weekend, German government sources have revealed.

The bill — handed over during private talks in Washington — was described as “outrageous” by one German minister.

President Trump is serious about getting the United States back in financial order. He is going to approach government like a business. You owe us – you pay us. Otherwise you get no benefit of American protection.

This is the way it should be. For far too long (since the Marshall plan) Western Europe has been leaching on the United States. It’s “State welfare” and it needs to stop.
