Ex-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is in hot water after he took payments from the Russian government without disclosing it. Congressmen Chaffetz and Cummings held a press conference today to discuss the severity of the matter and the ensuing investigation.

Via New York Post:

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn violated the law by failing to disclose payments from Russia in documents he submitted to renew his security clearance, according to top members of the House Oversight Committee.

There’s also no record that the former Army lieutenant general sought permission for a 2015 trip to Moscow, when he dined with President Vladimir Putin.

“As a former military officer, you simply cannot take money from Russia, Turkey or anybody else,” said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), chairman of the committee. “And it appears as if he did take that money. It was inappropriate and there are repercussions for the violation of law.”

Watch for the media to conflate this issue in any way they can with President Trump. Michael Flynn apparently took these monies (which weren’t substantial) before the campaign. He simply forgot to ask for permission (or wasn’t aware he had to do so) and register as a foreign agent.

Perhaps this is the reason General Flynn requested immunity a month ago to appear before the House Intelligence Committee?

In any event, John Podesta apparently made the same mistake and we don’t see any House Panels coming after him. The bias is amazing.
